History

Turku Music Festival is the oldest still running music festival in Finland. The festival was founded in 1960 by the Musical Society of Turku. The versatile city festival provides top class music for a wide range of tastes, including major orchestral concerts, chamber music, recitals, jazz, and concerts for children. Performers are leading Finnish and international artists. The festival’s Artistic Director is renowned Ville Matvejeff. Previous Artistic Directors have been Topi Lehtipuu, Olli Mustonen and Martti Rousi.
